Qasr Al Muwaiji was built in the early 20th century by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan. The traditional architecture of the tower allowed for cool and pleasant temperatures in the rooms, with the upper floor having large, unique windows that provided views of the surrounding area. The double glazing system introduced air underneath the floor which rose up through the building and circulated through the glass cavity. This allowed the building to stay cooler in the summer months. Qasr Al Muwaiji is part of the Cultural Site of Al Ain and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The double glazing system introduces air underneath the floor which rises up through the building and circulates through the glass cavity. This allows the building to "float" on a raft foundation that allows it to sit above the archaeological remains that still lie buried under Qasr Al Muwaiji.
